Increasingly, Cubans are gaining access to and benefitting from the use of new technologies. Compact digital cameras, laptops, mobile phones, MP3 players, USB flash drives, and other tools have opened opportunities for Cubans to share information with one another and tell the world their stories through blogs, web magazines, homemade documentaries, and independent music.

These technologies are essential to both the production and consumption of independent journalism in Cuba. That’s why Caimán Journalism Training, Inc. has launched “Cuba Connected.” We’re collecting new and used USB drives, digital cameras, SD cards, voice recorders, and other devices that are useful to Cuba’s independent press – and then we’re sending them there.

“Cuba Connected” is an opportunity to empower Cuban voices to tell their story. Their way.
